BEIJING: A Chinese home-raised chicken is so unusual that it prefers screw instead of millet or vegetables.
According to Chinese media reports, this pet chicken does not sit still until it finds a metal part to eat during the day. The owner claims that his chicken not only likes the screwdriver but also eats it with pleasure.
The owner of an electric shop says he was shocked when he first saw his chicken eat an iron screw. Residents of the area attributed the bad habit of the chickens to the negligence and carelessness of the owner as they believe that if the chickens are given grains on time, they will not eat anything else.
"When I saw the chicken, I chased it away because I was afraid it might die, but then she started eating screw or something metal every day."
According to Malik Sang, despite eating screw and other metals, the health of the chicken is surprisingly good.
Sang, a resident of the southeastern Chinese province of Heilongjiang, said he was a resident of an area called Hailong. He bought two chickens in July and then started raising them.
He said that most of the customers who come to the shop scream when they see the chicken being screwed because they think that they will die from eating all this.
