Muslims under pressure in India: EU Parliament expresses concern



Expressing concern over the human rights situation in India, the sub-committee of the European Parliament has said that the rule of law in India is coming to an end which is a matter of concern. India should abide by its human rights commitments.

According to details, the EU Parliament Sub-Committee has expressed concern over the human rights situation in India. The sub-committee on human rights violations in India said that minorities, especially Muslims, are under pressure from government policies in India.

Maria Arena, a Member of Parliament, said that the rule of law in India was coming to an end, which was a matter of concern.

He said that government critics were being arrested in India under strict laws and Amnesty International was forced to close its office in India.

The European Parliament has called for an immediate inquiry into human rights abuses in India and for human rights to be made part of the dialogue between India and the European Union.
