African rat gets gold medal

An African-born rat has been awarded a gold medal by the British Veterinary Charity for detecting landmines in Cambodia.

During his career in Cambodia, Magawa detected 39 landmines and 28 unexploded ordnance.

The British Veterinary Charity has awarded him a Gold Medal for his significant life-saving services.

It should be noted that Magawa was trained to detect landmines in Tanzania.
